The Lilac Bushes are Blooming!

Six years ago, when my sister Nanniepannie,

and I were looking for a house to buy and share,

it was this time of year--

and the lilacs were blooming.

We found Buttermilk Cottage and it had good bones.

However, it did have some drawbacks.

Despite the fact the kitchen needed to be

totally gutted,

...the lilacs were blooming.

Despite the fact, a full bathroom needed

to be added to the ground floor (my space)....

...the lilacs were blooming.

Despite the fact I would need to add a room

for my office/sewing room...

...the lilacs were blooming.

There happened to be a huge

lilac bush, in full bloom (and scent)

on the side of the house.

I really think that bush put a spell on us!

But, we've cherished it each year at this time,

when it's dressed to the hilt,

and we whisper a little "thank you."

(This is the view from my entry windows.)

How could you not have a lovely weekend...

...the lilacs are blooming!

Leaning in trying to get a whiff of lilac! Mine haven't bloomed yet and we lost a huge bush when a tree came down on top of it this winter. Maybe some new shoots will pop up where it was.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I so get that, Susan!! It is a bit warm here for lilacs to thrive, but I remember the scent when, as a child, I lived in Kentucky. Heavenly! I know you will have a grand week! The lilacs are blooming! blessings ~ tanna

They spoke to you through their aromatic voices and said: This is where you two gals belong.

I love lilacs, I can't wait for them to bloom in the Northeast! When we moved into our home we had one huge lilac bush and lots of little shoots coming out of the ground. My husband and I dug up 10 little sprouts and transplanted them on our property line. They are now about 4 ft. tall and blooming for the last 5 years! It took a long time but it was worth it! Your lilacs are just beautiful!

While at home visiting my parents, I snuck to my neighbors house that has the largest lilac bush you ever want to see! I made an arrangement in my Mother's Flow blue vase - it came out so lovely and so fragrant.
I love how the lilacs were there for you then and now.
